Dear Visitors,

The First United Methodist Church of Dadeville, Alabama is a special place to many people. Our church has been serving God since 1834...two years before our home of Dadeville became an official city.  Today, our church serves Dadeville, Jackson’s Gap, Lake Martin and other surrounding communities.  Members of our church can be found throughout the United States and the world.

There are so many blessings happening in our church.  New faces and names bless us each week in Worship and in Sunday School!  The church is full of energy as new covenant groups have formed to supplement and add to existing groups.  Many new ministries are beginning to take root and blossom!  This is all because of our vision, “In God’s love we will grow, share, raise up servant leaders, and change the world!”  We accomplish our vision by following the mission of all Christians, “To make disciples of Jesus Christ.”

Rev. Baxter Chism

Pastor - Baxter Chism was born in Montgomery and is a native of Clanton, Alabama. He earned his bachelor’s degree (MIS) from Auburn University in 1995. Before entering the ministry, he worked in the computer industry as a programmer/analyst in the Birmingham area.

While an active lay member of Helena United Methodist Church, Baxter answered the call to ministry. He attended Memphis Theological Seminary in Memphis, Tennessee and earned a Master’s of Divinity Degree in 2007. Before coming to serve at Dadeville FUMC, Baxter served as pastor of Union Hill United Methodist Church in Gadsden, Alabama. He and his wife Pam, have two sons, Frank and Carlin.
