Adult Sunday School Classes

Gussie Stone Class

The Gussie Stone Class, which has an all woman membership, is the longest running class in the church and was named for a long-time church member who taught pre-school children in the church for many years. If you are single, widowed, divorced, or just prefer a different class from your husband, the Gussie Stone class welcomes you.

Jenny Vinson Class

The Jenny Vinson class was founded in 1976 for young adults wanting to have a Sunday school class. In 1984 it was re-named in memory of one of its beloved members, Jenny Vinson. The class, which includes singles and couples, welcomes those seeking in-depth Bible study and fellowship. The class has parties and other special events throughout the year.

New Beginnings Class

The New Beginnings Class is attended by couples, singles, young and older members. The class often gets together outside of Sunday school to go to Sunday lunch together or to a play. The class has had special studies, such as Paul's journeys, Revelation and Methodist beliefs. Currently the class is using the Cokesbury lesson book.

Young and Restless Class

The Young and Restless Class, which has been in existence for more than 16 years, has a membership ranging in age from young adults to mature Christians. The class shines the light of Biblical truth on everyday, real life situations, and many times class members are challenged with the question "what in the 'world' is a Christian to do?" Lively discussions, serious, fun and worshipful are just a few words that could describe the class.

DFUMC Prayer Ministry

A prayer ministry has been added to the Dadeville First United Methodist Church’s ministries.  Through prayers for this ministry, God has blessed us by providing all that we have needed to begin this ministry for which we give him praise and thanksgiving.  He spoke to the hearts of 26 of our members who have signed up to become prayer warriors and we will continue to pray that we can grow.  He has blessed us with a prayer room.  The wonderful ladies who are members of the Gussie Stone Sunday School class have graciously said they would share their room with us and let it become a prayer room during the church’s office hours.  Some of the men of the church are making the prayer request boxes that we need and a prayer table.  Lord we believe that all things we ask in prayer believing, we shall receive.  Matthew 21:22.  Very soon you will see a prayer request box in the vestibule of the church.  Prayer requests forms will be with the box and these forms can be filled out and put into the locked box.  There will also be a box on the desk outside of the Gussie Stone Sunday school room.  You may use either box.  The requests will be written on a card to be placed in the prayer box inside the prayer room for the use of our prayer warriors.  All prayer requests will remain confidential.  We will also be praying for the church, all the ministries of the church, the church staff, our minister and his family, schools, community, government, etc.  All requests and praises will be taken to the prayer room immediately.   Intercession is the type of prayer that focuses on the needs of others.  To intercede for someone is to spiritually stand in the gap as mentioned in Ezekiel 22:30. Praying for the needs of God’s people is one of life’s most fulfilling and rewarding experiences.  I pray that it will offer DFUMC a unique opportunity to see God’s power and love working in people’s lives, as well as the church and community, as we come, in obedience to him in PRAYER.

Overflow Student Ministries

The Youth program at Dadeville First United Methodist Church is designed to help young people grow in their faith and tackle the 'curve balls' that life can throw at them. Youth members each United Methodist Youth Fellowshipweek discuss issues that are real to them and search for examples and lessons in the Bible that can help through the tough times and the pressures that come with growing up in a fast-paced world.

From time to time the group has a lesson at a member's home (what the youth call "Firesides"), and occasionally take a field trip somewhere different just to hang out and fellowship together.Youth Group playing Capture the Flag at the Bynums

Anyone in the 7th through 12th grade is encouraged to attend and join.

The group meets Sunday nights at 4:30 p.m. in the Youth Room, located in the downstairs Fellowship Hall. Check out our site- http://www.overflowsm.us

AWANA
Our church offers the AWANA Clubs International Program for children. AWANA (Approved Workmen Are Not Ashamed, from 2 Timothy 2:15) is a Bible based program that deeply roots the scriptures in the hearts of our children. We open this program to the children of our community as an outreach ministry, and we diligently guide children from age 3 to grade 6 in learning the Word of God weekly. AWANA 'S method of teaching includes scripture memorization, recreation and council time. The AWANA program is AWANA members receiving awardssimilar to the Scout Programs in that the children earn badges, jewels, crowns, and  "AWANA dollars" to reward them for their hard work in moving through the structured program. AWANA meets at 5 p.m. on Sundays. We also have a Children's Choir and Children's Hand Chime Choir as parts of our AWANA Program.

Upward Cheerleader and Basketball Youth
outreach continues to grow.  The age groups are Pre-K and Kindergarten-6th grades.  They still need help in referees, coaches, assistant coaches, cheerleader coaches and leaders for prayer and devotional time.  If you can assist them in this wonderful way of reaching the youth in our community to share with them about God’s love and play together please call:   Cindy Railey @825-8947 or Hugh Railey @596-2317.
